    CRESTWOOD – After a slow start, an 11-2 first quarter scoring run gave the South Oldham High School Lady Dragons the cushion they needed to roll to a 68-23 win over Trimble County in the opening round of the 29th District tournament Tuesday.

    MIDDLETOWN – It was a fine day for the Oldham County High School wrestling team Saturday.
    The Colonels took the Region V team title with five individual champions on a day highlighted by junior Cody Bishop’s 13-10 upset of Joe Rupp at 140 pounds.

    BUCKNER – After weathering Simon Kenton’s counter punch, the Oldham County Colonels came back with their own haymaker to knock the Pioneers out in a 57-49 win Friday.
    OCHS, 18-6, dispatched a team many considered their main rival for a regional crown with a 12-2 run just before the end of the first half.

    LOUISVILLE – The local swimming teams came out of the meat grinder that is their regional meet with several bright spots.
    The North Oldham girls’ team brought home a fifth-place finish to lead the local programs led by seventh grader Kate Tavestad who set a pair of school records in the 100- and 200 yard freestyle races.

    GOSHEN – Fresh off a run-and-gun rout of rival South Oldham, the Oldham County Colonels were forced to play the opposite way coming out with a 37-36 road win over North Oldham Friday.
    “Man, this one was a lot different than the last game,” OCHS senior guard Blake Payne said. “It was really hard to get into any kind of flow, but we won.”

    After watching a 13-point lead evaporate to three points early in the fourth quarter, Whitfield helped lead a charge by the South Oldham Lady Dragons that pushed them back to the front en route to a 55-37 win over Oldham County Friday.

    “For me it’s a lot more acting,” Graves said. “There are more facial expressions and movements when I use my body. I have to make everything bigger.”
