  • Colonels’ success propelled by...

BUCKNER — When Brandon Johnson began his senior year with the Oldham County boys basketball team, he knew his job as a role player off the bench would carry over into the start of the Colonels’ 2015-16 season.

While Johnson was providing a spark off the bench, he was in search of a spark within himself.

Once it ignited, he hasn’t slowed down.

  • KHSAA State Swim: South's...

LOUISVILLE – Lydia Jackson was caught between emotions of nervousness and anger after preliminary swims Friday.

In the 500 freestyle, she earned the No. 1 seed for Saturday’s KHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships when she felt other swimmers in the championship heat were fast enough to be the top seed instead of her.

The South Oldham junior felt the pressure, but turned in a performance that merited her top seed.

  • KHSAA State Swim: Oglesby and...

LOUISVILLE — In typical Grace Oglesby fashion, rather than celebrating her own individual success she embraced her last KHSAA state swim meet as a North Oldham Mustang to relish in the accomplishments of others around her.

Oglesby won her third straight individual championship in the 100 butterfly at the KHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium.

Oglesby clocked in at 53.64 for her last state title at North Oldham, but she welcomed another Mustang swimmer to the state champion club.

  • Girls' District 29...

BEDFORD – Oldham County’s second time playing Trimble County went much like its first. When the Lady Colonels hosted the district-favorite Lady Raiders in December, Oldham tripped out of the gate on the way to a 21-point loss.

The story was similar Friday night when Trimble County ran past the Lady Colonels 64-43 to claim its second straight 29th District title on its home floor.
