  • Rusch an ideal leader for young...

Earlier this month 14 North Oldham wrestlers competed in the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association state team duals. Out of those 14, senior Mitch Rusch was the only wrestler above the sophomore level.

That’s become the norm for Rusch this year. The North veteran is the undisputed team leader, conducting pre-practice warm-ups, offering advice to teammates when they’re on the mat and dominating his competition.

  • Shatzer meets new team

BUCKNER – Oldham County football players hadn’t seen a Colonel head football coach face-to-face in nearly three months.

But once the players met recently hired head coach Mike Shatzer Friday at OCHS, they said they liked what they saw.

Shatzer, who’s still teaching at his current job in Alabama, drove north to meet his new team Friday. He introduced himself to players in the weight room before addressing players, parents and others involved with the program in the school library before the boys basketball game against Simon Kenton.
