  • Robinson joining PSN broadcast

    The Pegasus Sports Network guest announcer for the Iroquois at Oldham County game Friday night will be 2001 OC graduate Dallas Robinson, who most recently made local news while competing for the United States Winter Olympics team in Sochi, Russia, on the bobsled team.  

    Robinson played free safety and tight end/wide receiver on the football team while at OC and also competed in track.

    North will open against Evansville (Ind.) Central for the second straight year in the VisionWorks Bowl.

  • Soccer: Revised schedule for...

    North Oldham’s boys and girls soccer teams were scheduled to host the Mustang Classic next week to start the 2014 regular season.

    But issues involving the Bermuda grass at Mustang Stadium have changed those plans.

    The tournament will still be conducted but it will take place at four sites – North’s soccer field, the Oldham County Youth Soccer fields at Oldham County Middle School, Kentucky Country Day and Collins.

    The revised schedule for the boys and girls tournaments is as follows:

    A former Colonel is steadily climbing the pro baseball ranks.

    Dean Kiekhefer is approaching the end of his first season with the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.

    Kiekhefer, who was promoted from Double-A Springfield earlier this season, has pitched 32 games this season for Memphis as of Monday.

    The left-handed relief pitcher owns a 2-3 record with a 2.54 ERA. He’s struck out 41 batters in 46 innings while pitching a primarily middle relief role.

    Defending region runner-up North Oldham shot a team score of 293 Monday at the Oldham County Country Club, finishing second to defending region champ St. Xavier (285) in the Sixth Annual Oldham County Classic.

    Tournament host Oldham County (339) was 10th in a field primarily made up of Louisville-area schools. South Oldham (346) was 13th.
