BOWLING GREEN – It took one practice round and two competitive rounds to do it, but by Wednesday the North Oldham boys golf team had finally accomplished one of coach Larry Dunn’s biggest goals.

The Mustangs “knocked the mystery” off of Bowling Green Country Club.

And now a North team that finished seventh in the 24-team state tournament and returns its top five competitors knows what the challenge is for next season.

BOWLING GREEN – North Oldham boys golf didn’t meet its goal of a top five finish at this week’s state tournament. But, in the end, the Mustangs still finished better than two-thirds of the other squads at the Bowling Green Country Club.

North finished with a cumulative team score of +65, good enough for a seventh place finish in the 24-team event. The Mustangs shot 319 the first day and 322 the second day, finishing with a total score of 641.

  • South facing defending 5A runner...

South Oldham has a chance to create a good position for itself in the Class 5A District 5 race Friday.

The Dragons (4-3, 2-0 District 5) will head north to Cooper (2-5, 0-2), attempting to keep an unblemished district record alive.

But in order to leave Union with a 3-0 district record, South will have to take down an opponent it’s struggled against.

“We’ve never beat Cooper,” coach Jamie Reed said. “We’ll need a good week of practice from everyone because it’ll be a tough game.”
