  • Furious North comeback leads to...

GOSHEN – There wasn’t much hope for North Oldham with four minutes to play Tuesday night.

The Mustangs trailed North Hardin 60-44. They’d scored just eight points in the second half, struggling with turnovers, shooting and rebounding.

But a Jon Jon Henry basket and free throws led to a Chris Burton three. That led to a Henry three and a Trevor Burton 3-point play.

In just a few possessions, North Oldham got back in the game.

  • South takes care of Trimble

BEDFORD – South Oldham has woken up.

Kyle Young scored 26 points Monday as the Dragons ran past overmatched Trimble County 93-40. The win was South’s second straight after a disappointing 60-42 loss to Collins Dec. 9 in the team’s home opener.

  • Lady Dragons fall to Highlands...

CRESTWOOD – South Oldham finally slipped on its tough early season schedule Saturday.

Highlands’ Brianna Adler scored 19 points as the Bluebirds beat the Lady Dragons 57-47 Saturday, marking South’s first loss of the season.

The Lady Dragons (2-1) were playing without starting point guard Abbey VanZant, who suffered a concussion Wednesday in a win over Floyd Central (Ind.). South coach Christy Higdon said she expects VanZant to return for the Lady Dragons’ next game, Wednesday at Gallatin County.

  • Oldham sweeps Trimble

BUCKNER – Both Oldham County teams came out victorious against district foe Trimble County Friday, but they did so in far different fashions.

The Lady Colonels clawed back from a 36-15 halftime deficit before Ashley McMurtrey hit the game-winning free throw in a 57-56 OC win in the girls’ game.

Meanwhile the boys had a less stressful evening, taking care of Trimble 70-30. Both teams are 1-0 now in District 29 play.

  • Male buzzer-beater sinks North

GOSHEN – Four and six-tenths seconds was all Brandon Horne needed to drive a stake through North Oldham’s comeback chances Wednesday night.

The Male guard took an inbounds pass at three-quarters court and drove straight to the basket, hitting the winning layup as time expired in a 46-44 Bulldog win at North.

Horne’s buzzer-beater undid an otherwise solid Mustang second-half effort. North (0-2), which scored just 14 first-half points, out-paced Male 30-22 over the final 16 minutes.
