LEXINGTON – No. 19 stood on the 19-yard line at Henry Clay’s Bell Stadium Wednesday night in a familiar position.
Stephanie Rowland, South Oldham’s all-time leading goal scorer, had hit plenty of free kicks over the years, some from long distance.
But none had ever come in a match this big – a KHSAA state semifinal against No. 2 Notre Dame with a trip to the state championship game on the line.
Standing about five yards left of the left football hash mark, Rowland ran up and belted the ball high to the right.
