  • NOHS Boys Golfers Make the Cut

BOWLING GREEN – North Oldham fought tooth-and-nail with tough Region 6 competition to make the KHSAA state tournament.

Once the Mustangs got to Bowling Green they found themselves fighting more against the course than the competition.

North fought wind and a tough course to shoot a 319 Tuesday at the Bowling Green Country Club, allowing the Mustangs to make the 12-team cut and advance to Wednesday’s final round.

Visit oldhamera.com for coverage of the final round, which was played after the Era’s press deadline.

  • Cardinals better than schedule

This year’s Louisville football team is the ultimate victim of circumstance.

Coach Charlie Strong has built a juggernaut with a loaded offense and a defense that leads the nation in fewest points allowed.

The No. 8 Cardinals (5-0) could, on any given Saturday, likely hold their own against any other team in the top 10. Should they beat Rutgers Thursday night (7:30 p.m., ESPN) as expected, they’ll have clinched bowl eligibility earlier than almost any team in America.

  • Kraus keeps OC unbeaten

LOUISVILLE – Dan Schulz had a message for Kasey Kraus at halftime of Oldham County’s game against Assumption Monday.

“She came off the field after the first half and I told her, ‘I think you’re going to score,’” said Schulz, the Lady Colonels’ head coach. “She was playing so hard and hustling for the ball. I just felt good about the runs she was making and how she was working hard.”

  • North Boys Headed to State Golf...

LOUISVILLE – Michael Vissing walked off the 18th green at Midland Trail Monday afternoon frustrated he’d double bogeyed the final two holes.

“I stormed off the green because I didn’t think we were going to go (to the state tournament),” Vissing said.

But Vissing’s anger soon turned to joy, as North Oldham’s cumulative team score of 305 proved to be the second best score among all teams at the Region 6 tournament, clinching the Mustangs a trip to next week’s state tournament in Bowling Green.
