  • South Oldham at North Oldham...

    The South Oldham at North Oldham girls basketball game scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday has been postponed due to inclement winter weather, per North athletics director Alan Yanke.

    The game will be made up at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27. A JV game will be played beforehand at 6.

  • North Oldham swim edges...

    North Oldham’s swim team nipped Louisville Collegiate, 763-751, Jan. 10 at the Go the Distance Meet hosted by Collegiate. Fort Knox finished third in the three-team meet with a score of 335.

    North won the girls meet with a team score of 453. Fort Knox (319) was second, while Collegiate (306) finished third. North (310) finished second in the boys meet behind Collegiate (445) and ahead of Fort Knox (16).

    Olivia Luzzio, Sarah Loeser, Emma Brazeau and Martha Helsley won the girls 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:39.40.

  • North Oldham wins Tri-Meet

    North Oldham swim won a meet Jan. 15, using a team score of 202 to beat Ballard (86), Fern Creek (16) and Valley (8).

    A North relay team of Alexis Sander, Katie Walker, Julia Pritchett and Kelli Wilson won the women’s 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:14.32.

    A North relay team of Luc Brazeau, August Kingsley, Arseniy Semenov and Yoni Smolyar won the men’s 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.26.

    North’s Rachel Scherer won the women’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.99.

  • OCMS baseball tryouts taking...

    Oldham County Middle School’s baseball program will be hosting tryouts for the 2014 season Feb. 12-14 at Wendell Moore Park.

    Tryouts will take place from 5-7:30 p.m. all three nights.

    Tryouts are for OCMS students only. Participants must have passing grades and good conduct in school.

    OCMS baseball has been conference champion four of the last five years.

  • Turnovers cost Lady Mustangs in...

    GOSHEN – One stat stood above all when North Oldham coach Dan Pfaff was analyzing his team’s 60-50 loss to Presentation Monday night.

    That stat was a whopping 26 turnovers, many forced by the Toppers’ full-court press.

    “That was the factor,” Pfaff said. “It’s something we certainly focus on in practice… Some were great reads that were made in some situations where balls were not caught. Other situations were bad reads.

  • North Oldham finishes second in...

    North Oldham coach Tony Zeppa did some lineup shuffling during the small-school sectional duals Saturday in Louisville.

    For the Mustangs’ pool match against Franklin County, he bumped Colin Portman up to the 195-pound class, Josh Hill to the 182-class, Mitch Rusch to the 170.

    The shuffling paid off as all three won and North advanced to the sectional finals.
    “We jockeyed the lineup a little bit to win our pool,” Zeppa said.

  • North’s Beasley receives...

    North Oldham junior running back Arien Beasley has received an award after a standout 2013 season.

    Beasley was named All-Southeast Third Team Running Back by HS Game Center, a company that tracks stats for high schools across the nation.

    Beasley accumulated 2,841 total yards and 19 total touchdowns last year for the Mustangs (9-4), who advanced to the Class 4A quarterfinals before falling to eventual state champion Collins.

  • Tiebreaking Triumph: Oldham...

    LOUISVILLE – The numbers added up Saturday for Oldham County to clinch a trip to next month’s large-school state duals.

    The Colonels won a three-team tiebreaker between OC, Trinity and Fern Creek to take first place in the five-team sectional duals Saturday at Eastern High School.

    Second-place Trinity also advanced, while Fern Creek was left at home.

    The tiebreaker came as a result of all three teams going 3-1. All three beat Eastern and South Oldham.
