    GOSHEN – Missed shots plagued Oldham County in its first two district games, both losses.

    The Lady Colonels shot 26 percent in a 47-34 loss at Trimble County last month and 31 percent Jan. 9 in a 48-39 loss to South Oldham.

    Staring at a 0-3 District 29 record, OC finally scored some points Friday and picked up a district win.

    Senior center Abigail Stewart led the way with 18 points as the Lady Colonels won 59-32 at North Oldham.

    NEW CASTLE – Megan Payton’s 17-point outburst in the second half wasn’t enough to help the Henry County Lady Cats come back from a 16-point second half deficit against North Oldham Thursday in a 48-36 Lady Mustang win.

    The host Lady Cats struggled offensively in the first half and found themselves down 22-11 at halftime. Henry managed just three points in the first quarter to the Lady Mustangs’ 11 points.

    The Lady Cats had trouble with the Lady Mustangs’ full-court pressure and their inside height throughout the first half.

    SHELBYVILLE – Facing a short-handed South Oldham club, the Collins took care of business early to roll to a 70-51 win over the Dragons Tuesday.

    With South missing three of its top players due to injuries and other issues, Collins went to work immediately and jumped out to a pair of quick leads before the Dragons managed to close the gap, leaving Collins with a 22-16 first-period lead.

    Two former rivals combined last weekend to lead a team of Kentucky all-stars to a win in the Border Bowl game against Tennessee’s all-stars.

    Former North Oldham wingback Arien Beasley and former South Oldham middle linebacker Connor John were named MVP and Defensive MVP, respectively, in Kentucky’s 33-32 win Saturday in Williamsburg.

    Beasley and John led Kentucky to a 33-19 fourth-quarter lead. Kentucky then held off a late Tennessee rally to win the game.
