LOUISVILLE — North Oldham isn’t surprised a bit at the early success its having on the mat. The Mustangs took first place at the Valley “Main Event” last Saturday with eight wrestlers making it to the finals at Valley High School. Colin Portman (220), John Reitnauer (152), Dallas Ochsenbein (120) and Drew Johnson (113) each earned first-place in their respective weight classes to lead the Mustangs to an easy first place finish.

CRESTWOOD – Two portraits hung outside the gym entrance at South Oldham last week that brought back memories for Randy Penner.

One was from 1989, the other from 10 years before, but both gave Penner a laugh and a sense of reflection.

“I was a little thinner and we had plaid pants and that plaid shirt,” Penner said with a laugh. “I can’t fit in them bell bottoms.”

  • Pratt: Reviewing the top sports...

This year was a lot of fun. So much fun that we’re resorting to the cliche end-of-the-year column when we look back on the best sports stories in Oldham County for 2015.

I asked the question on Twitter and received plenty of responses which didn’t come as a surprise because of so much success this county had at the state level. With a quick glance looking forward at the rosters of future teams, it’s not far fetched to believe similar success is on the way.
