The Oldham County girls’ basketball team hoped to rebound Monday after a close loss on Friday to Bullitt Central. The Lady Colonels faced the Australian Travel Team but lost 54-46 Monday.
Oldham County and the Aussies could not seem to separate themselves through at the first quarter, as they matched each other point for point. The Lady Colonels would have the slight edge on The Jets, 14-13. Ashley McMurtrey led the game at the break with 7 points.

All six local swimming teams took to the water just on Nov. 20 but only the South Oldham boys and Oldham County girls walked away winners as they captured wins at the Shelby County meet.
The Oldham County girls’ 200-yard medley relay team got things started with a win in the first event, while North finished right behind in second and South took third.
In the boys’ race, the teams finished in reverse order as South captured second and Oldham finished in fourth.

Jace Bryant started his tenure as the Oldham County girls basketball coach with a bang as his Lady Colonels defeated Bardstown 73-20.
Oldham County got an early jump on the Cougars, going on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes and holding on from there. Though Bardstown tried to catch up throughout the game, the Colonels proved to be too strong.
Senior Jessica Leanhart and junior Ashley McMurtrey took over the first quarter, scoring 18 of the team’s 22 points.

It took until the last few seconds to put the game away, but the South Oldham junior varsity team survived a scare against St. Xavier Monday night, dispatching the hosting Tigers 38-26.
Despite the late game theatrics, South Oldham jumped to a quick lead in the contest and held its own throughout, never surrendering the advantage.
That’s not to say they didn’t try, letting St. X stage a late rally due to sloppy play and a lack of rebounding. After trailing by 11 entering the final frame, the Tigers went on a 17-8 run to close the gap.
