  • Volleyball: North handles Lady...

    GOSHEN – North Oldham got a breather Monday after four straight five-set matches to start the year.

    The Lady Mustangs overpowered visiting North Bullitt to win their third match of the season, 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-7).

    The win included a 14-0 North Oldham run in the first set after it trailed 10-9 at one point.

    Monday’s win was the first home victory in first-year coach Brett Versen’s tenure. The Lady Mustangs are 3-2 and have won their last three matches.

  • Boys golf: North repeats as...

    North Oldham posted a team score of 300 (+12) Saturday to win the 2014 Bulldog Classic at Lindsey Golf Course at Fort Knox.

    The Mustangs defended their title by beating runner-up St. Henry by 22 strokes.

    North's Mason Lenhart earned second medalist, shooting a 71 (-1).

    Following him was Tyler Reller, who shot a 73 (+1).

    Next for the Mustangs were Michael Vissing (77, +5), Josh Maier (79, +7) and Crosby Cameron (85, +13).
     

  • Football: Turnovers cost OC in...

    BUCKNER – Oldham County had to wait an extra two hours to start the Mike Shatzer era Friday.

    After a tough loss, the Colonels will have to wait at least another week for their first Shatzer-era win.

    Iroquois took a 22-19 lead with less than three minutes left on a long Larry Jackson touchdown run, then sealed the game with a Germone Kohn interception return touchdown to beat OC 29-19 at Bell Field.

    The loss was the first at OC for Shatzer, hired during the offseason to replace Matt Brown.

    CRESTWOOD – Paul Laurence Dunbar showed Thursday night why it was ranked No. 7 in the state preseason coaches’ poll.

    The Lady Bulldogs won a tight first game, 25-20, before claiming 25-13 and 25-18 game victories in a sweep of South Oldham.

    The Lady Dragons (1-1) suffered their first loss after sweeping Fern Creek Monday night.

  • Boys golf: North wins tri-match

    PROSPECT – North Oldham shot a nine-hole 158 (+14) to take a tri-match against Oldham County and South Oldham Thursday at Nevel Meade Golf Course.

    North’s Mason Lenhart shot the day’s best round, firing a 37 (+1). Next were Tyler Reller (39 +3) and Michael Vissing and Crosby Cameron (41, +5).

    OC (178, +34) edged out South (179, +35) for second place.

    Grant Larimore led the Colonels with a 42 (+6). Following Larimore were Michael Brown (43, +7), Grayson Willard (44, +8) and Matthew Crobmie (49, +13).
