    CRESTWOOOD – The records don’t lie when it comes to Oldham County and South Oldham’s girls basketball rivalry.

    “I counted it up today,” OC coach Jace Bryant said, “and the last 12 meetings, they’re leading the series 10-2.”

    After Friday night, you can make that 10-3 over the last 13.

    Ashley McMurtrey scored 24 points, including the game’s last seven, Friday as the Lady Colonels finally took down their archrival, 53-47 at South.

  • Stone leads Titans as Collins...

    GOSHEN – North Oldham played with a better effort that pleased its coach Thursday night. But that still wasn’t enough for the Mustangs to overcome the best player on the floor.

    Collins’ Ralphie Stone scored 24 points Thursday, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as the Titans beat North 59-50.

    Stone lifted Collins (12-2), ranked No. 2 in Region 8 by the Courier-Journal, past the Mustangs (5-8) on a night when North, ranked No. 6 in the same poll, hung tight the first three quarters.

  • NOLL signups start Saturday at...

    North Oldham Little League will be having sign-ups for the 2014 season starting Saturday at Walsh Park in LaGrange.

    The days will be every Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., every Sunday, 1-4 p.m., and every Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. through Feb. 2.

    NOLL offers baseball (ages 7-16), girl’s softball (ages 7-16), coach pitch (ages 5-6), t-ball (ages 4-5) and its challenger league (ages 7-18) for special needs kids.

  • Edgar harvests first deer

    Breann Crouch Edgar, 13, of La Grange, harvested a doe Dec. 28 in Campbellsburg during a youth hunt weekend.

    Edgar, an eighth grader at Oldham County Middle School, was hunting for the first time.

    OC recently finished third in the Surf Division of the Surf ‘N’ Slam Tournament in San Diego, beating teams from Florida and California.

    Meanwhile South is coming off a title two weekends ago in the John Fendley Classic and a third-place finish in last weekend’s Lindsey Wilson College Holiday Classic.

    South and OC are ranked first and third in Region 8 by the Courier-Journal.

    But the Lady Dragons came back and guard Abbey VanZant hit a buzzer-beater to take down OC, 46-44.

    The Lady Colonels will have a chance for revenge at 6 p.m. Friday when the rivals meet in Crestwood.

    The game will be broadcast live online at pegasussportsky.com.
