  • County title up for grabs

     North Oldham came within one point of repeating as county champs last season.

    The Mustangs had already beat Oldham County 16-10 and needed a win over South Oldham, a team it had beat four out of the five previous years, to win the unofficial county title.

    But South pulled off a dramatic 43-42 double overtime win over the Mustangs, taking the Oldham County crown for itself.

     BUCKNER -- Tournament time is still more than a month away, but Oldham County has already punched its ticket to the Region 8 Tournament.

    The Lady Colonels won Monday for their eighth time in eight matches this season, beating North Oldham 5-2 in Buckner.

     PROSPECT – You couldn’t ask for a better setting than the one found last Thursday afternoon at Nevel Meade Golf Course.

    The temperature was around 70 degrees, with a light breeze blowing throughout. The course was well manicured, from the smooth fairways to the rock waterfall guarding the sixth green.

    And all around the course was good competition.

    Players from North Oldham, Oldham County and South Oldham High Schools were playing in the Oldham Cup, an annual event pitting the county’s three schools against each other.
