    Hosting Ballard on Friday night, the Oldham County Colonels nearly pulled off a big win before narrowly falling 21-14 to the Bruins.

    For nearly a year, the North Oldham Mustangs shouldered the weight of being the defending 8th Region champions. And for nearly a year, they waited for the chance to make it back to state. Thursday night, that's exactly what they did, knocking out Simon Kenton 3-1 in the regional final.
    "The thing we told them at the beginning of the season is that everybody wants to beat you," coach Brian Jones said. "So it's nice to come out on top as the 8th Region champs. It feels really nice."

    The Oldham County Lady Colonels had plenty of big wins heading into Thursday night's regionl final against South Oldham, including three wins in the teams' last three meetings, but none would be more important than their final meeting as the Lady Colonels knocked out South 1-1 (4-1) in an overtime thriller.

    “Our strengths tonight were pose and stamina, because South brought it," Oldham coach Dan Schulz said. "They brought a great game out here tonight, and they deserve a lot of credit.”

  • North Oldham runs through 8th...

    Entering the opening round of Monday night’s 8th Region tournament, the North Oldham volleyball carried themselves like they expected to return to the state tournament. Their play against Walton-Verona did little to temper that fire as they got on the gas early and never let up, cruising 3-0.
    After coming out strong with a quick 6-1 run to open the match, the Mustangs weathered a Bearcats run midway through the game before opening up for a comfortable 25-15 win.

    The South Oldham Lady Dragons Soccer Team put another win under their belt Tuesday night, defeating Spencer County 4-0 to advance to the 8th Region final against Oldham County.
    South Oldham entered the game with momentum after their win against Simon Kenton on Monday night, scoring quickly off a goal from junior, Courtney Steinberger.
    Sophomore Stephanie Rowland added one of her own with 12 minutes left, but the sophomore was not finished, adding another just 5 minutes later to close the half.

  • South falls to Simon Kenton 3-1...

    The South Oldham volleyball team saw their season come to a close Tuesday night as they fell in 3-1 heartbreaker to Simon Kenton.
    The Dragons struggled early in the match, dropping the first game 25-20 before rebounding for an important 25-23 win in game two to even the score at 1-1.
    Simon Kenton took the wind out of their sails in game three, holding off South in a back and forth game to win 28-26.
    From there, it was all Pioneers as they picked up a 25-22 win in the final game to win the match.
    South Oldham finished the season with a 22-13 record.

    The Oldham County Lady Colonels passed one more test Tuesday night, defeating the Anderson County Lady Bearcats 3-1. The win puts Oldham County in the 8th Region final where they will take on the South Oldham Lady Dragons.
    The Colonels were hot off a quarterfinal win against Grant County, beating them 5-0.
    Oldham County opened the match with a Haley Kemper goal in the 34th minute. Shelby Cohen fired one of her own just 10 minutes later, stretching Oldham’s lead to 2-0.

    When the South Oldham Dragons were matched against the Collins Titans in the second round of the boy’s soccer 8th Region tournament, they knew it would be a tough game.
    A thrilling 1-0 victory pushed South into the regional final.
    It didn’t take long for the Dragons to set the tone with an early goal by defender Davis Ferriell six minutes into the game.
