  • Mustangs blast Doss in opening...

    GOSHEN – North Oldham turned what was supposed to be one of the area's better opening round football playoff games into a rout Friday night.

    Arien Beasley rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries as the Mustangs routed Doss 49-12 Friday at Mustang Stadium in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. North (8-3) led by as much as much as 49-6, forcing a running clock against a Dragon team that beat the Mustangs in the first round of the playoffs last season.

    LOUISVILLE – The big challenge waits in the second round for Oldham County, but the Lady Colonels weren't looking past the task at hand Friday.

    OC (32-8) swept Region 14 champion Hazard 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-14) Friday morning in the first round of the state volleyball tournament at Valley High School.

    The win sets up a Lady Colonel tilt against Mercy in the state quarterfinals at 10 a.m. Saturday.

    The Lady Bulldogs (29-6) were over-matched from the beginning by OC.

    LEXINGTON – The most successful season in Oldham County girls soccer history finally came to a close Thursday night.

    Two rapid-fire, second-half Sacred Heart goals buried the Lady Colonels in a 3-0 Valkyries win at Dunbar High School in the state semifinals. The loss, the first of the year for OC (23-1-1) ended the Lady Colonels' season the deepest into the playoffs they'd ever advanced.

    Vissing finishes third in at HGJT event in Louisville

    North Oldham golfer Michael Vissing finished tied for third place with a final score of 154 in the Boys 15-18 division this weekend in the Huricane Junior Golf Tour’s College Prep Series event at the Univeristy of Louisville’s Cardinal Club.

    Vissing shot an even par round on Sunday but it wasn’t enough to make up for the nine bogeys he shot on Saturday.

    D.J. Vogt of Louisville won the event with a score of 150.

  • OC, Sacred Heart meet in semis

    There are two undefeated girls soccer teams in Kentucky, but that will change after Thursday night.

    Oldham County (23-0-1) meets Sacred Heart (22-0-3) at 6 p.m. at Dunbar High School in Lexington in the state semifinals. The winner will advance to Saturday night’s state championship game to meet the winner of Tates Creek and Notre Dame.

    OC coach Dan Schulz said his team is nice and relaxed heading into the Thursday’s showdown with the Valkyries.
