  • No. 4 Manual too much for OC...

BUCKNER – Manual kept bringing in the reinforcements Tuesday and Oldham County didn't have the horses to keep up.

Eleven different Lady Crimsons scored as No. 4 Manual beat OC 79-48 in each team's season opener.

The Lady Crimsons' depth wore down the Lady Colonels as the game went on, OC coach Jace Bryant said.

“When you can play 15-deep,” Bryant said, “and you can bring in athlete, athlete, athlete and we're going seven-deep, it's tough.”

  • OC wins OT thriller

BUCKNER – One of Coy Zerhusen’s first decisions as Oldham County head coach has been to make Hayden Hawes his point guard and move former point guard Connor Hicks to the wing.

Zerhusen made the move with hopes Hicks would be able to do more scoring without having to run the offense. After one game, that move is looking like the right one.

  • Collins KO’s North

SHELBYVILLE – Same location, same matchup, same result.

One month after Collins whipped North Oldham 35-6 at Titan Stadium to win the regular season district title, it did the same thing to North Friday to win a region title.

The Titans scored 42 unanswered points and beat the Mustangs 42-14 in the state quarterfinals Friday night. Collins earned the Class 4A, Region 2 title with the win.

  • OC girls start year with No. 4...

A lot of teams across the state are starting their seasons next week with “warm-up” games in order to get a stress-free win or two under their belts.

Oldham County’s girls won’t be one of those teams.

The Lady Colonels will host preseason No. 4 DuPont Manual at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Buckner. OC will be facing a Lady Crimson team that’s won Region 7, one of the state’s toughest regions, three straight years.

Manual was state runner-up in 2010-11, state champ in 2011-12 and a state semifinalist last season.
