       With big wins last weekend, both South Oldham and Oldham County will head into Friday looking to extend their streaks.

  • OCHS trounces Covington Holy...

    Coming off a three game stretch where seemingly nothing would go right for Oldham County, the Colonels showed out Friday night, blitzing Covington Holy Cross 48-21.

    OC got plenty of yards from plenty of players on offense but Jacob Taylor was the real star of the night, racking up 180 yards and four scores on the ground and reeling in three passes for 60 yards and another score.

    The Colonels return to the field Friday, Sept. 21, as they host Shelby County in a game scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. 

  • South Oldham tops North in...

    Billed as one of the biggest games of the season, Friday night’s collision between North and South Oldham certainly didn’t disappoint, taking all of four quarters and two overtime periods to crown a champion.

    When the dust did finally settle however, South Oldham was the team on top, unseating the previously unbeaten Mustangs 43-42 to stake their claim as the class of the county.

    One game into Thursday night’s volleyball showdown between rivals Oldham County and South Oldham, things didn’t look good for head coach Amy Grimm and her Lady Dragons.

    In sports, a short memory is often a very good thing. The Oldham County boys’ soccer team can certainly attest to that. After dropping a game on penalty kicks to North Oldham Wednesday night, the Colonels rebounded nicely just a day later, dispatching South Oldham 2-0.

    The home lights shined on the South Oldham boys’ soccer team for the first time Saturday night as they went on to defeat there cross county rivals North Oldham 1-0.

    Welcoming South Oldham to Bell Field Friday night, Oldham County fell 0-2 in rivalry games this season as the Dragons gained control early and never looked back, blitzing the Colonels 42-18.

    Three South Oldham players in particular led the charge as as seniors Jack Sherry, Dallas Banks and Kyle Young lit up the scoreboard early and often in the win.

  • North, South Oldham soccer teams...

    Heading into the back stretch of the 2012 season, the race for 29th district supremacy is underway for local boys' and girls' soccer teams but the picture couldn't be any cloudier. This week will go a long way in helping clear that up as several key meetings will give a clearer understanding of how teams will be ranked when district tournaments start.

    The North Oldham boys' varsity team continued their unbeaten streak in match play alive, besting Eastern High School by 15 strokes at Nevel Meade Thursday. North Oldham's next big challenge will Saturday as they take on Covington Catholic at Boone Links in Florence, Ky. From there, they'll get a local challenge in the Oldham Cup as they will try to steal the trophy from Oldham County, the two-time defending champion.
