  • South, OC grab respective titles...

    All six local swimming teams took to the water just on Nov. 20 but only the South Oldham boys and Oldham County girls walked away winners as they captured wins at the Shelby County meet.
    The Oldham County girls’ 200-yard medley relay team got things started with a win in the first event, while North finished right behind in second and South took third.
    In the boys’ race, the teams finished in reverse order as South captured second and Oldham finished in fourth.

  • Oldham County rolls in opener:...

    Jace Bryant started his tenure as the Oldham County girls basketball coach with a bang as his Lady Colonels defeated Bardstown 73-20.
    Oldham County got an early jump on the Cougars, going on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes and holding on from there. Though Bardstown tried to catch up throughout the game, the Colonels proved to be too strong.
    Senior Jessica Leanhart and junior Ashley McMurtrey took over the first quarter, scoring 18 of the team’s 22 points.

  • Six runners named to All-State...

    Though the cross country season ended nearly a month ago, a handful of local runners are still earning accolades after being named to all-state teams Monday.
    For the high school programs, there are six representatives on the first tean.

    Grogan had an impressive fall, racking up six top five finishes, including a personal best time of 18:44.64 during the regional meet at EP “Tom” Sawyer Park on  Nov. 3.

  • South survives last second...

    It took until the last few seconds to put the game away, but the South Oldham junior varsity team survived a scare against St. Xavier Monday night, dispatching the hosting Tigers 38-26.
    Despite the late game theatrics, South Oldham jumped to a quick lead in the contest and held its own throughout, never surrendering the advantage.
    That’s not to say they didn’t try, letting St. X stage a late rally due to sloppy play and a lack of rebounding. After trailing by 11 entering the final frame, the Tigers went on a 17-8 run to close the gap.

  • OCYFL All Stars take field for...

    Though their regular seasons ended weeks ago. a handful of players from the Oldham County Youth Football League continued playing over the weekend, representing the county as All Stars.
    Taking to Southern High, both the boys 8  and under team and 10 and under team performed well.
    The 8U boys won both their games in the first before falling in the championship game Sunday.
    The 10U team went 1-1 in the first day before falling in their game on Sunday.
    The OCYFL team also earned the sportsmanship award.

  • SOHS boys win Fern Creek meet:...

    All three local swim teams took to the pool at Ralph Wright Nautatorium Saturday to open the 2012-13 season­­ — and one walked away with a win as the South Oldham boys grabbed a top finish with a combined score of 68 points.
    The Sea Dragons finished four points ahead of second place finisher Christian Academy of Louisville.
    North Oldham finished right behind CAL in the boys’ rankings, finishing the day tied with Kentucky Country Day for third place at 48 points.
    Oldham County then grabbed fifth with a score of 36.
