  • Boys Track: OC sets relay record

Four Oldham County boys broke a record Saturday that was older than they were.

OC runners Ben Hoffman, Josh Corral, Samuel Pyle and Seth Boaz ran the 4x400 relay in 3:24.14 Saturday at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C.

That time eclipsed the school record of 3:25.38, which Colonels coach Brian Crumbo said was set at the state track meet in June 1993.

“I was just so happy that we finally got it after me going after it for three years,” Corral said.

  • Goshen’s Thomas learns from...

A player’s short game goes a long way at the U.S. Open.

And with the turtle-back greens on display last weekend at Pinehurst No. 2, every putt and chip could be a doorway for disaster.

Goshen resident Justin Thomas said he played well enough the first two days of the U.S. Open to be under par, but some missed putts sent him to a disappointing two-day 148 (+8) and a missed cut.

Thomas, 21, was playing in his first career major just months into his professional career.
