  • Football: Bullitt East handles OC

    Konnor Polson threw for 192 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 44 yards in leading Bullitt East to a 44-21 win over Oldham County Friday night in Buckner.

    The Chargers led 10-7 after the first quarter but took the game over in the second, scoring 27 points to take a 37-7 lead into halftime.

    Colonel quarterback James Harding was 14-of-39 for 185 yards with two touchdown passes and one interception.

    OC receiver Allan Farrow hauled in three passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. Justin Viar had six catches for 48 yards and a score.

  • Football: Mustangs blow chances...

    TAYLORSVILLE – Several missed opportunities to score turned into one big missed opportunity for North Oldham to score a road win in its district opener.

    The Mustangs left 14 points on the field at Spencer County and lost 21-13 to the Bears Friday night in their first district game.

    Class 4-A, No. 7 North (3-2) missed two field goals and an extra point. The Mustangs also came away empty on a 1st and goal chance from the Spencer 1-yard line late in the first quarter.

    GOSHEN – Freshmen and sophomores didn’t play like inexperienced players for North Oldham on Sept. 25.

    As a result, a young Lady Mustang squad got its first win over cross-town rival Oldham County in nearly eight years.

    Sophomore Emma Boyd tied the match with a late penalty kick and hit another during a shootout. Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Kellogg saved two OC shots during that penalty shootout, including the one that clinched a 3-2 shootout edge and 2-1 victory.

    Class 5A No. 6 South (3-1) will start the defense of its 2013 District 5 crown when it goes to Hebron to take on Conner (0-4) at 7:30 Friday night.

    Oldham County Youth Football League duked it out again this weekend to better their positions for the playoffs later in the season.

    In the Peewee division, the first game featured the Packers and the Colts.  

    Amare Davis got the game started off right for the Packers by running in a 30-yard touchdown.

    Finley Taylor scored in the second quarter for the Pack on a 30-yard run and Davis scored his second touchdown, this time on a 40-yard pass from Ryan Holvey.
