     LEXINGTON – All Cole Dowdy could think about in the last 150 meters of the 3,200 meter run at the state meet was everything and everyone who helped him reach that point.

    He admitted it’s cliché to think such a thing with a championship on the line, but the shoe was a perfect fit.

     LEXINGTON – Evan Charles never thought he would have the success in hurdles that he is seeing today. In fact, he actually hated that particular race at one point.

    Now Charles says he’s grown to love it. Success at the state meet probably has an influence on that transformation.

    Charles had Oldham County’s best individual result Saturday at the KHSAA Class 3A Track and Field Championships with a fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 39.98 seconds.

    Oldham County Middle School had four athletes break school records at its home invitational on May 16. Ben Bunting set the record in the boys discus throw with a distance of 129-3. Madeline Campbell broke the record in the turbo javelin with a throw of 56-10. The boys 4x800 relay team of Isaiah Cook, Tommy Finn, Jaymenson Beckner and Jacob Brizendine set a record in the relay of 9:56.53.
