    With a constant downpour of chilling rain, more than a dozen track and field teams competed in the Sundown Invitational last Thursday at Oldham County High School. Some student-athletes were withheld from participating in some events in preparation for the regional track meet Tuesday.

    Oldham County’s Kennedy Park and North Oldham’s Kiersten Miller had a unique experience over spring break. The two freshmen soccer players were members of the Kentucky Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) girls team that traveled to the Netherlands for a week of training and games.

    With district tournament seedings on the line, South Oldham baseball defeated Oldham County 4-0 Wednesday night in Crestwood to take a big step toward securing the top seed of the District 29 tournament. Brennan LaBarbera pitched into the sixth inning, holding Oldham County scoreless and drove in two runs.

    South Oldham baseball picked up its second district win of the season behind a dominant performance by pitcher Will Moriarty. The senior threw a complete game as South Oldham defeated Oldham 3-2 Monday night in Buckner. Tanner Johnson went 1 for 2 with an RBI double and Moriarty added an RBI single while Oldham County's Tyler Morrison pitched a complete game.

    With a reworked offensive attack, South Oldham boys lacrosse defeated North Oldham 16-7 Friday night in Crestwood. Luke Niebrugge scored a game-high six goals while Trevor Chapman and Grant Prince added four goals apiece for the Dragons. Juniors Gavin Beauregard and Malachi Pyle combined to score five goals for North Oldham.

    Jordan Poppleton escaped several jams to throw a complete game as South Oldham defeated North Oldham 6-1, their first win over the Lady Mustangs since 2013. Poppleton stranded nine runners on base and allowed one run while Mikayla Benson went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
