    Facing a pesky Marshall University team last month, Louisville coach Rick Pitino was looking for a second-half lineup that could put the game away.

    Pitino turned to Cardinals regulars like Wayne Blackshear, Chris Jones and Montrezl Harrell.

    He also turned to walk-on sophomore guard David Levitch.

    The former North Oldham star played 15 minutes, scoring six points and grabbing two steals in what turned out to be an 85-67 U of L win.

    CRESTWOOD – Minutes after his team beat Trimble County by 35 points Friday, Oldham County coach Coy Zerhusen said the Raiders would “surprise some people in a couple of games this year.”

    Zerhusen’s prediction came true three nights later.

    Center Michael Dunaway scored 33 points and Trimble stunned South Oldham 65-53 Monday night on the Dragons’ home court.

    It was the Raiders’ first win against South since a 59-56 victory on Dec. 15, 2000 – nine games into coach Steve Simpson’s first season in Crestwood.

    Six OC players scored in double-figures as the Colonels moved to 6-0 on the season.

    The Lady Colonels scored their most points of the young season in a 62-44 home win over the Toppers in the 12th Annual Ronald McDonald House Classic.

    OC (2-4) shot 43 percent from the floor and 44 percent from 3-point range against Presentation (2-4).

    Senior wing Jayla Davis scored a game-high 21 points with senior center Abigail Stewart scoring 16.

    BEDFORD – Oldham County shot its way to an 0-1 district record Friday night.

    The Lady Colonels shot just 26 percent from the floor and fell 47-34 at Trimble County.

    The loss was the fourth straight for OC (1-4, 0-1 District 29). It also snapped a 12-game Lady Colonel win streak in the series dating back to December 2006.

    OC’s game plan Friday was to press Trimble (3-1, 1-0) and turn the game into a full-court affair, coach Jace Bryant said.
