    For nearly a decade, Mark Viehmann provided a bridge from Little League to high school baseball for middle schoolers. The Oldham County Middle School (OCMS) coach had the baseball field at Wendell Moore Park named in his honor last Saturday as he steps away as the program’s leader.

  • Soccer: Lady Colonels down...

    A first half offensive onslaught carried Oldham County girls soccer to a 5-3 win over Anderson County in Buckner. The Lady Colonels’ Eighth Region opponent entered Wednesday night’s match averaging more than four goals per game, but it was Oldham County’s persistent attack, led by Tristan Whalen who scored three goals, that controlled the game.

  • Colonel football rallies to beat...

    With an 11-point second half deficit, Oldham County’s defense delivered three turnovers to lift the Colonels to a 35-24 win over North Oldham last Friday in Buckner. Jacob Ratliff returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the final seven minutes as the Colonels defeated their intra-county rival for the second consecutive year.

  • South football returns to form

    Following a loss to Christian Academy of Louisville (CAL) in its season opener, South Oldham football bounced back to defeat Doss 33-14 last Friday. Keaton Martin rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown and JaMartez Beaudoin blocked and returned a punt for a touchdown as South Oldham scored the game’s final 19 points.

  • Lady Dragon volleyball shows...

    South Oldham volleyball’s 6-0 start is nice, but coach Amy Wells is more pleased to see the progression from her team than their undefeated record. The Lady Dragons defeated North Bullitt in straight sets (25-18, 25-9, 25-19) Monday night in Crestwood.

     Although the rivalry between Oldham County and North Oldham doesn’t have any postseason implications, the football game means something to players, students and fans.

    There are several intriguing matchups and storylines heading into the game that kick offs Friday night in Buckner at 7:30 p.m.

    South Oldham football extended its winning streak to three with a 51-0 victory over Boone County last Friday. For the second straight game, the Dragon defense forced several turnovers on its way to holding its opponents scoreless.

  • Soccer: Colonels fall to...

    The opportunities were there, but Oldham County boys soccer couldn’t overcome a two-goal deficit to Highlands in a 2-1 loss Thursday night. The Colonels controlled possession for most of the night and outshot the visitors, but Oldham County couldn’t find the back of the net.

  • Soccer: Lady Colonels tie Ryle

     A late goal by Brylee Pottie with 76 seconds left provided an equalizer for Oldham County girls soccer in a 2-2 tie against Ryle Wednesday night. The goal culminated a frantic push by the Lady Colonel offense after Ryle took a one-goal lead on a score by Morgan Snider with 15:52 in the second half.

    The Goshen father-son team of Jeff and Zach Whiteman, a 2017 North Oldham High School graduate, climbed Mount Rainier earlier this month, a challenge that tested their mental fortitude and physical endurance.
