CRESTWOOD – It took each of South’s Oldham’s “Big Three” to beat an Eastern team that came into Saturday with just one loss.

Eastern (12-2) was just outside the top 20 in this week’s Litkenhous ratings. The Eagles, with a 94.5 rating, became the highest-rated team South (9-7) has knocked off in coach Jessica Conner’s first year in Crestwood.

GOSHEN – According to both its coach and star player, North Oldham had yet to play a full game this season heading into its showdown Friday night against then-No. 11 Oldham County.

“We always said if we put four quarters together we can beat anybody and we’ll be tough to beat,” Mustang senior guard Jon Jon Henry said.

“We’ll usually have one, maybe two (good quarters) per game,” North coach Rob Burton said. “But we’ve never been able to put four quarters together defensively or offensively.”

NEW CASTLE – Megan Payton’s 17-point outburst in the second half wasn’t enough to help the Henry County Lady Cats come back from a 16-point second half deficit against North Oldham Thursday in a 48-36 Lady Mustang win.

The host Lady Cats struggled offensively in the first half and found themselves down 22-11 at halftime. Henry managed just three points in the first quarter to the Lady Mustangs’ 11 points.

The Lady Cats had trouble with the Lady Mustangs’ full-court pressure and their inside height throughout the first half.
