Henry County’s Nick Riggs rushed for a 10-yard touchdown on the first play in overtime and the Colonels fumbled the first snap on their ensuing possession to end the game.

    A week before its first game of the 2017 season, South Oldham football hosted Butler Thursday night for a preseason scrimmage. The Dragons led the Bears 28-21 through three quarters before giving way to JV and freshmen players for the final period.

    JT Benson scored two touchdowns and Drew Zaubi completed 5 of 11 passes for 86 yards.

    Finishing games was Oldham County volleyball’s motivational emphasis this offseason. Coach Vince McDonough believes the Lady Colonels could have won 28 or 29 matches in 2016, instead of 21, if they would have closed out teams.

    South Oldham wants to play its best volleyball at the end of the season this year. In 2016, the Lady Dragons began the season 11-2 before losing 17 of their final 20 matches. Coach Amy Wells said the struggles left a bad taste in the team’s mouth because everyone left thinking they didn’t play well despite the hot start.
