    The game that was an instant-classic, ended in the only appropriate way.

    Devin Young hit a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to guarantee a spot for South Oldham boys basketball in the district final and Eighth Region tournament as the Dragons defeated North Oldham 63-60 in the District 29 semi-finals in Goshen Wednesday Feb. 21.

    When it comes to postseason play, Oldham County coach Chris Jefferson said it isn’t for the faint of heart. The Lady Colonels did enough to advance to the district final and clinching a spot in the Eighth Region tournament, using an 11-0 fourth quarter run to defeat North Oldham 40-30 in the District 29 semi-finals Wednesday Feb. 21 in Goshen.

  • Boys Basketball: Oldham defeats...

    Oldham County basketball defeated Trimble County 83-46 Tuesday Feb. 20 in the semi-finals of the District 29 tournament hosted at North Oldham High School in Goshen. The victory seals a spot in the Eighth Region tournament next week for the Colonels, their eighth-straight appearance, and advances Oldham County to the district final against the winner of North Oldham and South Oldham.

  • Wrestlers at state championship

    The KHSAA wrestling state championship was hosted at Alltech Arena in Lexington Feb. 16-17. Twenty-four wrestlers from Oldham County competed in the event.

    Sending a dozen wrestlers to the state championship, Oldham County had seven state placers, which is the most ever for the Colonels. 

  • Girls Basketball: South finishes...

    It wasn't pretty, but South Oldham girls basketball grinded out a 54-46 victory over Presentation in its final game of the regular season. After what South Oldham coach Gene Heffington called a “lackadaisical” ending the first half, he challenged his team to play with more effort and determination.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham romps...

    Two days after suffering its largest loss of the season, Oldham County girls basketball responded with a dominating performance against North Bullitt, routing the visitors 69-50 in Buckner Thursday Feb. 15. In their final game of the regular season, the Colonels never trailed and held a double-digit lead for most of the contest.

  • Swimmers qualify for state meet

    Swimmers from the North Oldham, South Oldham and Oldham County qualified for the KHSAA swimming and diving state championship at last weekend’s Region Six meet. The Mustangs boys and girls team combined for 784 points to win the regional while South Oldham placed fourth with 460 points and Oldham County finished seventh.

  • Wrestlers advance to state

    Oldham County wrestling’s reign of seven straight regional titles came to an end as the Colonels finished second in the Region 5 meet hosted at Grant County Feb. 10. With 256.5 points, Woodford County claimed the regional title while Oldham County finished second with 238.5 points.

  • Boys Basketball: North Bullitt...

    Several scoring droughts doomed South Oldham boys basketball in a 75-61 loss to North Bullitt Monday Feb. 12 in Crestwood.

    Devin Young had a team-high 21 points and Luke Morrison added 16 points for South Oldham. Peyton Hicks finished with seven points while Ben Johnson had eight points.
