    For the seventh consecutive year, Oldham County captured the District 29 tournament title after defeating South Oldham 76-70  on Friday night. Jackson Gibson scored 25 points and the Colonels went on an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

    Trimble County’s reign over District 29 continued for another year as the Lady Raiders defeated Oldham County 64-48 in the District 29 tournament championship game, Trimble County’s third district title in as many years. Kaylee Clifford, the Eighth Region player of the year, led all scorers with 27 points.

    Three weeks after University of Louisville basketball head coach Rick Pitino visited Crestwood to watch the South Oldham - Eminence boys basketball game, South Oldham senior guard Jo Griffin decided to play for the Hall of Fame coach's program. Griffin announced on Saturday morning that he accepted a preferred walk-on spot to play basketball at Louisville.

    The Eighth Region Player of the Year showed why he is a candidate for the prestigious Mr. Basketball award on Wednesday night by helping his team seal a spot in the regional tournament. Jo Griffin scored 24 of his game-high 33 points in the second half as South Oldham defeated North Oldham 80-64 in the semi-finals of the District 29 tournament.

    Oldham County rode the production of a freshman to ensure their return to the Eighth Region tournament. Lakynn Goldsmith scored six points and grabbed three offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of several mismatches in the low-post as Oldham County defeated South Oldham 53-39 in the semi-finals of the District 29 tournament.

    After getting away from the way they wanted to play a few weeks ago in a loss to Christian Academy of Louisville, Oldham County used the past 10 days to get back to the basics. The Colonels played their way in the semi-final round of the District 29 tournament, defeating Trimble County 82-49, which ensured the Colonels a spot in the Eighth Region tournament next week.

     Despite waves of adversity and injuries during the year, Oldham County wrestling resurfaced to a familiar place on Saturday. For the seventh consecutive year, the Colonels captured the Region 5 title.

    With three different head coaches in four years, consistency hasn’t exactly been synonymous with the Oldham County girls basketball program recently. Though there has been quite a bit of turnover and change throughout the past four years, there have been two players who have given the program a dependable presence, Kylee Nuernberger and Ali Korzeniowski.
