  • Kick return sets tone for South...

    It only took 14 seconds for South Oldham football to take control in the annual rivalry game against Oldham County. Dragon kick returner JT Benson fielded the opening kickoff on the 9-yard line and charged up the middle of the field. The freshman, relatively untouched, broke free near midfield and ran down the sideline for an 89-yard kick return touchdown.

  • South keeps record perfect

    South Oldham has a phrase, “no one beats the Dragons in the fourth quarter,” and thus far this season, no one has. The Dragons defeated Boone County 35-14 on Friday night, improving their record to 4-0 and once again dominated the final period of play.

    Penalty shootouts are becoming commonplace for the Oldham County girls’ soccer team. A week removed from defeating South Oldham in a game-deciding shootout, the Lady Colonels once again prevailed in a shootout against North Oldham on Wednesday night.

  • Rivalry ends in a shootout

    With postseason implications on the line, third-ranked Oldham County traveled to South Oldham for another classic showdown in the rivalry. The Colonels won 5-3 in penalty kicks after the match was played to a 1-1 tie in regulation and two five-minute overtime periods.

    A trip to Augusta National Golf Club, arguably the most famous golf course in the world, wasn’t in the works for South Oldham golfer Molly Bebelaar this weekend as the sophomore finished ninth in the regional final of the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship.

    On a night where plenty of storylines filled Dragon Stadium for the annual South Oldham and North Oldham football game, the Dragon offense stole the attention of anyone in attendance.

    Two five-minute sudden death overtime periods weren’t enough to decide an inter-county rivalry soccer match on Wednesday night, so the game was sent into high-pressure penalty kicks to resolve a 2-2 draw. Isabella Balducci sent in the winning penalty kick to give 21st-ranked Oldham County a win over 15th-ranked South Oldham.

    Three days after being ranked number one in the state, Oldham County boys’ soccer had a test with a familiar foe. The Colonels pulled out a 2-1 victory over North Oldham, which moves Oldham County a game ahead of the Mustangs in the District 29 standings.

    It's said anything can happen in a rivalry game, and it did on Friday night as Oldham County made history with its first win over North Oldham in series history. The Colonels scored two touchdowns in the first half and held off a rally by the Mustangs for a 14-6 win, seemingly an upset for a team that went 1-9 and fell to North Oldham 45-6 last season. 

  • South Oldham runners finish in...

    The conditions couldn’t have been much worse on a hot and humid Saturday morning for the annual St. Xavier’s Tiger Run at Louisville Champions Park, but two South Oldham runners finished in the top 10 of the girls 5k race that had over 200 contestants.
