  • Best in Hoops Tournament finals...

BUCKNER – After watching Oldham County win its first nine games, future opponents got a glimpse of what it takes to beat the Colonels on Sunday.

Unfortunately for those teams, they don’t have the combination of Cameron Reed, a 6-foot-6 wing who can shoot-and-make from anywhere on the floor, Jonathan Lane, a power forward with a 7-foot wingspan and Trey Moses, a 6-9 center who takes away the paint.

That’s the buzz saw OC ran into against Eastern in the Best in Hoops Tournament finals Sunday night.

  • Best in Hoops Classic: Colonels...

BUCKNER – Oldham County had done plenty to impress going into its Best in Hoops Tournament this weekend, starting 7-0 and beating all but one opponent by at least 20 points.

But the Colonels hadn’t shown they could win a close game under heavy pressure from the other team.

OC won its first such game 67-61 against Central Thursday night, then won another tense contest Saturday in the tournament semifinals.

St. Xavier cut a 14-point Colonel lead to 32-30 in the third quarter before OC re-gathered and rallied for a 60-48 home win.
