Friday would prove to be a good day for Oldham County in the 2A state track and field meet as two local standouts captured state titles and both North and South Oldham performed well under the summer sun. On one side, the North Oldham guys finished second overall in the meet with a score of 48 points, while the girls took the No. 5 spot at 39.70 and Brianna Brown captured the girls' long jump title. On the other side, South Oldham picked up some hardware with a Leonard Faul title in the 800 meter run as the guys would finish in the No. 15 spot, while the girls would grab ninth.

While the track and field teams take to Owsley Frazier Cardinal Park today at the 2A state track meet, the tennis state tournament will be easing into day two at the University of Kentucky with only one local player, Jordan Pitts, left in the mix.

Sometimes saying hello can be just as hard as saying goodbye. Other times though, it can be harder. A couple of wasted hours and plenty of discarded paragraphs later, I can certainly testify to that. Still, for all the things that won’t seem to fit into words, one that will is how excited I am to be here.

The elite Dream Mile event brought together the state’s top runners May 4 at St. Xavier in Louisville.
The Dream Mile features just two races, the mile for both men and women. Students must meet qualifying standards to participate.
Standards are 4:25 in the 1600-meter run or 4:27 in the mile for men; 5:20 in the 1600-meter run or 5:22 in the mile for women.
The race is designed to produce fast times, with a competitive field, quality track and even a pacer for the first two laps.
