  • Stone leads Titans as Collins pulls away from North

GOSHEN – North Oldham played with a better effort that pleased its coach Thursday night. But that still wasn’t enough for the Mustangs to overcome the best player on the floor.

Collins’ Ralphie Stone scored 24 points Thursday, including 10 in the fourth quarter, as the Titans beat North 59-50.

Stone lifted Collins (12-2), ranked No. 2 in Region 8 by the Courier-Journal, past the Mustangs (5-8) on a night when North, ranked No. 6 in the same poll, hung tight the first three quarters.

  • Iroquois handles North Oldham

GOSHEN – North Oldham has set a pattern this year of playing ugly in the first half only to storm back in the second. That’s how last month the Mustangs beat North Hardin and South Warren and how they nearly beat Male.

But Saturday night North followed up an awful first half with a second period that was just as poor.

  • Male buzzer-beater sinks North

GOSHEN – Four and six-tenths seconds was all Brandon Horne needed to drive a stake through North Oldham’s comeback chances Wednesday night.

The Male guard took an inbounds pass at three-quarters court and drove straight to the basket, hitting the winning layup as time expired in a 46-44 Bulldog win at North.

Horne’s buzzer-beater undid an otherwise solid Mustang second-half effort. North (0-2), which scored just 14 first-half points, out-paced Male 30-22 over the final 16 minutes.
