    BUCKNER — A slight misstep on another player’s foot is all it took.

                Until North Oldham boys’ basketball senior center Devon Rowan came down on another player’s foot with 2:05 remaining in the second quarter, the Mustangs had control of the game at Oldham County and led 21-18.

                Rowan returned from the play, in which he sprained his left ankle, but NOHS never looked the same again.

  • Top basketball seed in sight

    The South Oldham High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams can claim superiority over rival Oldham County High School following wins Friday.

    But more importantly, the path to the 29th district tournament is now shorter for the victors.

    The Dragons and Lady Dragons outplayed their counterparts Friday at SOHS, with the reward a pair of wins that bring them closer to the top seeds in their districts.

  • Colonels use early goals to win district

    BUCKNER--- The beginning couldn’t have gone much better for Oldham County.

                Right-footed senior forward Jay Davis had the Colonels on the board with a goal off his left foot just 2:32 into the game.

                The goal helped send Oldham County to a 2-1 win over Collins in the boys soccer 16th district championship, but it didn’t quite propel the Colonels through the game.

  • Oldham stumbles early again in loss

    BUCKNER— If Oldham County coach Matt Brown could figure out why his team starts so slow, the outlook might be a little different for the Colonels.

    In a similar tune to other games this season, Eastern was already up 6-0 on a touchdown pass four plays into the game. Again, Oldham County mounted a comeback but were still outplayed in nearly every statistic in falling to the Eagles 42-21.

  • Theiss places fourth at state

    As a sophomore two years ago, Oldham County’s Meghan Theiss experienced what it was like to play on the final day of the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA state golf tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club.

    That year, Theiss finished tied for seventh with a two-day score of 162.

  • Oldham County comeback falls short

    BUCKNER— Not two minutes in, Oldham County was already looking at a deficit.

    After giving up another touchdown, the Colonels regrouped and took a 15-13 lead over visiting Fern Creek with 2:06 left in the game.

    That was just enough time for the Tigers, who scored the winning 22-yard field goal with 9.8 seconds left to defeat Oldham County 16-15 on homecoming.

    SHELBYVILLE-- Oldham County quarterback Brett Strnad threw four touchdown passes – three to Cody Oldham – to lead the visiting Colonels to a 48-14 victory over host Shelby County on its homecoming Friday night at Robert Doyle Stadium.

    CRESTWOOD--- It was a play that South Oldham junior quarterback Jack Sherry had never run before.

                So it was understandable that Sherry didn’t quite know what to do after the ball was snapped at the one-yard line in a tied game in overtime.
