We read in II Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” (NIV) These words got me to thinking about how we know who God is. I don’t doubt God has made himself known to us, but in the day-to-day life of most people this seems to be an elusive knowledge.

In the early hours of April 6, the Oldham County EMS and fire department prevented me from having the ultimate excuse. Their quick and professional response to an emergency call to my house shaved off critical time and gave the specialized teams at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital the opportunity to perform an emergency surgery.
Having my childhood and early adult life pretty evenly split between Indiana and Tennessee, I find that my allegiance is often torn. There are so many things I love about the Hoosier State; the first signs of spring after a long, hard winter, pork tenderloin sandwiches bigger than the hog they came from, and some of the kindest, most friendly people you could ever hope to meet.
