OC SOFTBALL EARNS NO. 1 SEED

The No. 8 Oldham County Lady Colonels ran their district winning streak to 22 games May 1, knocking off upset-minded South Oldham in a 2-1 nail-biter.
“They played better than us,” Oldham County coach Steve Leanhart said. “We didn’t come prepared, we didn’t come ready to play. We had 15 out of 18 outs as pop-ups.”
South Oldham certainly had its chances, looking poised to cut into an early 2-0 OC lead with one out in the fifth inning.
Nothing came of it though as the Lady Dragons squandered a first-and-third situation with a pick-off and a strikeout.

Judge to decide if DNA test necessary in Evridge case

Prosecutors say four hairs found at the scene of a double-fatal shooting could yield details about the day a Westport man claims two sisters attacked him with a knife.

Ronald T. “Ronnie” Evridge, 58, faces two murder charges and one count tampering with physical evidence for the Dec. 2011 fatal shooting of a pregnant woman and her sister.

Second round of school redistricting forums set for next week

Oldham County parents will have a chance to sound off on the school district’s redistricting plan at three public forums next week.

The second round of Oldham County Schools’ redistricting forums will be held May 13, 15 and 16.

In this round, attendees will be asked to give pros and cons on each of several attendance boundary alternatives.

The draft boundary maps and other information will be posted online this week so those interested can view them in advance.

Man who jumped probation back in jail

A Pleasureville man who spent part of 2010 swiping copper wire and equipment from construction sites in Pewee Valley and Crestwood with a cousin is behind bars once again.

According to court documents, Kenneth Aldridge, 24, of Crestwood,  committed several thefts and burglaries with his cousin, Curtis Aldridge, and Frank Hibbard.
