With a steady downpour for most of the first half, Friday didn’t exactly have ideal conditions for junior quarterback Drew Zaubi to throw the ball, so South Oldham relied on its rushing attack to lead the team to a 31-14 win over Anderson County, the same Anderson County that South Oldham had lost to nine of its previous 10 tries.
On Aug. 17, Oldham County students returned to school for their first day. This year, Oldham County Schools will welcome 12,238 students for a school year scheduled to end June 1, 2017. The number has increased from 12,049 last school year.
Several girls recently traveled to compete in Las Vegas at the national pageant for Miss United States. The Kentucky queens were wished well with a going-away party at Posh in Buckner, the official dress sponsor, on July 24.
The South Oldham field hockey team made a little bit of history on its way to a season opening win last Tuesday as the Lady Dragons defeated Holy Cross 10-0. The final goal came with 22 minutes left in the second half, qualifying the game for a mercy rule, South Oldham’s first in program history.
