  • Disappointed with coverage

I am sorely disappointed in the coverage that these papers have given to our local school’s marching bands lately!

We have three high schools in our county, two of these high schools have competition marching bands.

Do you realize what these remarkable young people in our county accomplish?

Do you understand the hours of practice, the number of hot days of band camp in the summer or the dedication that these youths devote to this pursuit?

  • A Killer Among Us
  • Schools, students perform well

The leaves are turning and fall break is just around the corner — I can’t believe how quickly the first two months of school have gone by. I have to give credit to our teachers and staff for their amazing ability to quickly get students back into the swing of things. From day one, they hit the ground running and got students engaged in learning. I am so thankful we have that kind of staff.

I also owe a debt of gratitude to our parents and community who provide endless support to students both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Poor representation is worse than none!

As I cast my view from the back end of the 4th Congressional District  towards Washington DC, I am particularly  annoyed by the actions of our elected representative Thomas Massie; who apparently has no concept of how to govern.

  • I HEAR THAT TRAIN A COMIN’

“Mommy, wake up! We’re back where we started!”

Hubby and I, along with our two little ones, had fallen asleep on the train.  I glanced at my phone. It was nearly 1 a.m.  Then the announcement, “All passengers are requested to exit at this stop.”

  • COMMUNITY CHRONICLED IN NEWSPAPERS

When I was a little girl, my family lived close enough to town that I could walk to the grocery store. One summer day, my sister and I decided to walk to the store for ice cream and took our dog, Hobo, with us. Hobo soon got hot and tired and demanded he be carried the rest of the way.
