  • Some things you just can’t plan

I’ve always been a planner. I have a precise schedule in my head, a physical copy in a spiral-bound book and several alarms set in my phone. I guess you could call it a control problem, but I would call it preparedness.

I plan down to the minute of my day.

This is when I have to be at work. This is when I eat. This is when I go to the gym. This is when I go to sleep.

I even plan in my personal life. A phone call goes out to my mom at 5 p.m., my best friend at 6 p.m., dinner with friends at 7 p.m., favorite show at 8 p.m.

I’m excited to announce that I am the new reporter for the Oldham Era. Some of you may recognize my name; I interned at the Era last year and I am a graduate of Oldham County High School.

  • Get busy on yourself

Long ago there was a wise king whose large household included a young servant named Amann. The lad was intelligent, hard-working and showed promise of rising in the king’s service except for one serious fault – he worried constantly about what other people thought of him.

  • Living in the present

Most of us have heard of the most famous clock in the world, Big Ben in London, England. Big Ben is a 13.5-ton bell attached to a five-ton clock in the tower of the Houses of Parliament. Built in 1859, it is famous for its accuracy.

  • Feral hog sighted

    By Barbara Rosenman

Oldham County has recently had some reports of hogs running loose. A deer hunter shot a large hog that was chasing horses on Fendley Mill Road. And another hog has been loose around Highway 22 and Fible Lane.
