    School Bus Issues

In the past few weeks, many parents have expressed concerns about late buses. We’d like to explain what is causing those issues and what we’re doing to alleviate them.

    Special election

The Oldham County Clerk’s Office wants to take this opportunity to inform all voters of upcoming special election information.

A special election in Precinct H106 (South Oldham Fire Station) will be held Tues, January 28, 2014, to permit the sale of alcoholic beverages by the drink at Yew Dell Gardens.

  • Letter to the Editor: Resident upset over Crestwood Walmart

As a resident of Madison Park Condominiums, among the many reasons I had chosen to live at this particular location were as follows: overall aesthetics of our facilities, proximity to Highway 71, significant open space areas, peace and tranquility of the neighborhood environment, low-to-no crime, ease of movement and low traffic congestion to name a few.

    Upset with school taxes

In the letter 12/12 to the editor, Mr. Maggio seems to think that Oldham school taxes are fair, far from it.

It is not easy as a senior citizen living on social security. Of my annual social security, one month of my income is consumed by the Oldham County school tax, not to mention tax on the water and phone bills.

  • Santa Letters Dec. 19

    Dear Santa,

My name is Anderson and I have been a good 2 year old boy. I sing Christmas songs to my family and friends to make them happy. I also am a good listener except when I knocked over the Christmas Tree. For Christmas I want Batman sheets, so he can keep me safe like my dad. I will leave out cookies and milk in my cup so you don’t spill.

    Love, Anderson Parrott

    Dear Santa,

  • Letter to the Editor Dec. 5

After reading the article “School Board Approves New Boundaries” in The Oldham Era, I was reminded of the last election. The voters had a chance to rid themselves of four of the school board vermin, including the ring leader and chose not to. Thankfully, I no longer have children in the system. My only involvement now is to pay thieving amounts to fund it. I absolutely have no sympathy for the negatively impacted of us as we had our chance to change things and did not take it.

    City can’t interfere

After reading the article in Nov. 7 EraI could not believe what was written about the power Pewee Valley claims over the cell tower installation by the Salem Assembly of God church at 209 LaGrange Road.

  • Sport neglected

Well just as I expected. Oldham County had two middle school cross country teams that won at state and there was only a small mention and the teams were labeled wrong. Not a big surprise.

Oldham County had close to 400 runners compete at Masterson Station Park on Oct. 26 with over 400 runners in some races. Our athletes represented Kentucky and our county against some 3,000 runners from across the state and The Era can’t even distinguish between a boys team and a girls team.
