  • Displaced by Cedar Lake

I am the parent of one of the clients displaced by Cedar Lake’s programming cuts.  My son attended their day program for a number of years.  He does not need a nurse to be on site all of the time.

I know of other clients who also do not need a nurse.  When I asked the CEO, Mr. Stevenson, why my son was asked to leave, he responded that he was cut because he needed “more intense supervision” and that this was known as “other cost saving measures.”

     Caucus reminder

Because Senator Rand Paul wanted to run for his Senate position and also as a candidate for President on the Republican ticket – he paid for a separate caucus election day on March 5 for the race for President on the Republican ticket only.

If anyone in Oldham County wants to vote for a Republican candidate for President, they must go on Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oldham County High School.

    Kudos to Coach Simpson
What traits must a coach exhibit to be considered exceptional?
There are a countless number of athletic coaches that have withstood the test of time and proven themselves as good and successful coaches, great teachers of the X’s & O’s and consistent winners.
But what makes a good or great coach stand out even further from the pack? What makes a mentor to young men and women truly exceptional? What makes them shine when directly compared to highly overpaid, upper echelon coaches that are worshipped even as they fall woefully short as role models?

     Traffic solutions

After reading the article regarding the intersection at Highways 146 and 53 in the Era on Feb. 4, I made several calls and again went to look at the intersection with my own eyes.

I use this area as much as the average citizen does except I always walk in the crosswalks. I tell my grown children if I have an accident there get an extra half million for doing me in at the crosswalk.

     Seeking support for retirees

As a Kentucky Retirement Systems stakeholder, I am gratified by Gov. Matt Bevin’s recognition of the existential threat to the Kentucky employees and state police pension plans. His general fund budget proposal for the upcoming two fiscal years allocates revenue above the full employer contribution to begin addressing this threat.

     Issue with alcohol ordinance

After reading the 26-page Oldham County Alcohol Ordinance, I was taken aback by the fact that they are going to allow alcohol sales as close as 100 feet from a school, church, daycare or nursery.

In addition, the county’s ABC Administrator will be given the authority to waive this distance requirement.

Is this truly the right direction for Oldham County?

     Keep Oldham County Dry

How dry I am, How dry I am

And that’s how I wanna stay,

But how wet we’ll be if on December 29th

    You don’t stand with me.
