  • Letter to the Editor: More from Light Up
  • Letter to the editor: Thanks to DDL volunteers

As the Executive Director of Discover Downtown La Grange, I wanted to take a moment to thank the community leaders, first responders, Public Works, sponsors and volunteers for sharing their holiday time to come together for Light Up La Grange. They worked so hard putting it all together. For me personally, I feel very blessed to have worked with such a great crew of helpers. And wow — what an amazing turnout!

  • Letter to the editor: Light up La Grange

First let me say that this is something I have never done, but certainly have been tempted when reading letters to the editor. Somehow I have always restrained myself and moved on. But not this time. “Disappointed in Light Up” had to be addressed and a “colossal disappointment” really could not go without saying something.

    Disappointed in Light Up

  • Letter to the Editor: Dec. 11

I would like to thank Discover Downtown La Grange Main Street and its Board of Directors for the lovely evening it provided for Light Up La Grange and in particular Donna Sabo for leading the way and her tireless efforts under difficult circumstances this year.

Michael and Vonnie Glover did another fabulous job again this year putting up the lighting. Countless people came out to enjoy the festive occasion and welcome Santa back for the 27th year to our city.

    Pay your bill

I wish to make a few comments about the front-page article in last week’s Oldham Era regarding the business owner who refuses to pay his business license fee.

I work in the City of La Grange and am subject to the city’s occupational tax. This results in my having to pay the city hundreds of dollars per year. Let me reiterate and capitalize for emphasis: HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.

  • Letters to the Editor: Thanks to road department

On Monday, Nov. 17, the snow brought down limbs from one of our trees and blocked Barkwood Dr. A neighbor called the Oldham County Road Dept. and a crew came right out and pushed the limbs out of the road. On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the road crew came out and removed the limbs from our yard. Here’s a big thank you to the road crews for your great service.

    Becky and Jim Smith, Buckner

    Thanks to voters

I am Jim Key. I ran for Magistrate in District 6.

Every person who joins the service must take an oath to our Nation. Some are a little different if you’re an officer but all must take this oath “I (your name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
