Abraham Lincoln is by far my favorite president. Maybe it’s because we were both born in Kentucky. Maybe it’s because of the Emancipation Proclamation. I have read every book over the years I can get my hands on about Lincoln and every time I’m inspired by his life and many good works.
Long ago there was a wise king whose large household included a young servant named Amann. The lad was intelligent, hard-working and showed promise of rising in the king’s service except for one serious fault – he worried constantly about what other people thought of him.
Most of us have heard of the most famous clock in the world, Big Ben in London, England. Big Ben is a 13.5-ton bell attached to a five-ton clock in the tower of the Houses of Parliament. Built in 1859, it is famous for its accuracy.
Oldham County has recently had some reports of hogs running loose. A deer hunter shot a large hog that was chasing horses on Fendley Mill Road. And another hog has been loose around Highway 22 and Fible Lane.
I love baseball. It’s my favorite sport. My favorite time of the year extends from March through November, the full length of the baseball season. A couple of years ago I visited Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame. I was in heaven.
The 2016 election is over and Kentucky citizens have voted to send 30 new legislators to the General Assembly in Frankfort. They, along with veteran legislators, will be confronted by a vast array of policy issues in the coming months.
