GEORGETOWN — Marion Alvin Cox, 79, husband of Rebecca “Becky” (Roubidoux) Cox, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024. He was born on Feb. 9, 1945 in Shelby County, Ky., son of the late James and Aliene (Bruce) Cox.

Marion was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and retired from IBM after 30 years of service in the financial services department. His passion was his farm where he raised cattle for many years and enjoyed spending time with his fellow farmers to discuss the day’s events, the price of hay and farming trends. Marion was named Area 6 Master Conservationist in 2010 by Farm Credit Services, Outstanding Conservation Cooperator of the Year in 2011 and Pioneer Farmer in 2014.

In addition to his beloved wife Becky of 34 years, Marion is survived by his loving daughters; Lori Cox and her fiancé Joe Jarvis, and Robin Arnold and her husband Chris, two granddaughters; Megan Arnold and Erin Arnold, one sister; Anna Cook, a special cousin; James Bennett Schooler, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dear friends; Mike Routt, Reggie Happy, Gary Ammerman and Jeff Gregg.

Besides his parents, Marion was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Cassady and his brother, Morgan Cox.
