During its 2024 winter meeting in Owensboro in early February, the Home Builders Association of Kentucky (HBAK) unveiled this year’s HBAK award winners, elected their senior officers and executive committee.

The organization announced members of its new emerging leaders class.

Recipients of 2023 HBAK excellence awards, which recognize exceptional leadership and achievement in the Commonwealth’s housing and building industry, include:

Martin Conrad Outstanding Lifetime Builder Achievement Award — Drew McLellan, McLellan Homes (Lexington)

· Gilbert E. Kittle Honored Associate Award — Chris Anderson, Sun Windows and Doors (Owensboro)

· Bob Weiss Wisdom Award — David Sowders, Sowders Company Designers/Builders, LLC (Bowling Green)

HBAK members elected the following individuals to serve as the organization’s 2024 senior officers:

· Don Wirtzberger — President — Sierra Design & Construction (Louisville)

· Scott Welch — President-Elect/Treasurer — Welch Builders, Inc. (Louisville)

· Todd Millay — 2nd Vice President / Legislative Chair — T.A. Millay Construction (Utica)

· Chris Anderson — Secretary / Associates Committee Chair — Sun Windows and Doors (Owensboro)

· Crystal Newton — Associate Vice President — 46Solutions (Lexington)

Members elected to serve as HBAK executive committee officers this year include:

· Brian Miller — Immediate Past President — Brian Miller Contracting and Electrical, LLC (Scottsville)

· Billy Doelker — Senior Officer Advisor: Builder — Key Homes, LLC (Buckner)

· Tom Raver — Senior Officer Advisor: Associate — Fireplace Distributors, Inc. (Louisville)

· Juva Barber — Executive Officers Council (EOC) Chair — Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville (Louisville)

· Richard Bean — Investment Advisor — Richard Bean Investment (Cape Coral, Florida)

· Mike Kegley — NAHB BUILD-PAC Trustee — B.O.L.D. Company (Union)

· Marshall Todd — NAHB State Representative — Marshall Todd Builders (Nancy)

· Val Claycomb — NAHB Delegate: Associate — ReMax Executive Group, INC. (Elizabethtown)

Three HBAK members were named to the 2024 emerging leaders class, which is a program focused on educating, engaging and empowering individuals in Kentucky’s housing and building industry to reach their potential and affect change at the state level. They include:

· Kristin Aull — JMJ Custom Homes (Owensboro)

· Ethan Hagan — Magnolia Construction (Owensboro)

· Dusty Ward — WardWorks Custom Homes, LLC (Elizabethtown)

HBAK is comprised of 18 local associations located across the Commonwealth, including Bowling Green, Danville, Elizabethtown, Erlanger, Flatwoods, Frankfort, Hazard, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Louisville, Marion, Madisonville, Olmstead, Owensboro, Paducah, Pikeville, Richmond and Somerset.

The Home Builders Association of Kentucky is a statewide voluntary trade organization comprised of 4,000 member companies in the housing and construction industry representing 30,000 employees across the Commonwealth. Among our valued members, approximately one-third are dedicated home builders and remodelers, while the remainder excel in complementary fields such as sales and marketing, housing finance, manufacturing and supply of building materials.The Home Builders Association of Kentucky is comprised of 18 local Home Builders and Building Industry Chapters across the state.
