    27-6, won 29th District with a 73-56 win over North Oldham; lost 76-70 to Shelby County in regional finals.
    Four seniors in guards Brice Jewett, Austin Bowling, Casey Jackson and center Chris Schumm who accounted for 90 percent of the Dragons’ offense last season.
    Carson Fields, 6-foot-4 senior forward who averaged 9.2 points a game last year.

    13-15, lost to Anderson County 67-55 first round of region tourney.
    All-region forward Emily Lape, forward Leah Pehlke and guard Brooke Leanhart.
    Ericka Hardin, 5-foot-9 senior guard who averaged 12 points and five rebounds a game last year.
    Emily Melton, 5-foot-5 junior guard, Jessica Leanhart, 5-foot-6 sophomore guard.

  • Arts center to host holiday shows

    The Oldham County Schools Arts Center has two holiday shows coming up that are sure to entertain and put you in a festive holiday spirit.

  • Bye, Bye Birdie

    Ed Menzenksi — the La Grange man widely known as “Birdman” by strangers who spot him on the streets with his pet parrot, Toby — is flying the coop.
    Almost daily, the pair can be seen strolling through downtown La Grange.

    Name: Jayla Davis.
    School: Oldham County Middle School.
    Sport: Basketball.
    Age: 13.
    Position: Guard/forward.
    Hometown: La Grange.
    Parents: Lois and Calvin Davis.
    Accomplishments: Davis, an eighth-grader, has helped the Lady Colonels to a 5-3 record in the Mid-Bluegrass Conference this season.
    The 5-foot-6 Davis plays both guard and forward for OCMS and basketball is her only sport.

  • Locals will vie for region hoops titles

    Oldham County could send a team to either the boys’ or the girls’ state basketball tournament this year.
    The South Oldham boys’ fell just short last year losing in the regional finals to Shelby County after leading by as many as 12 points through much of the game.

  • Crestwood City Commission meeting canceled for December

    Due to scheduling conflicts the December meeting of the Crestwood City Commission is canceled.
    The next meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12.

  • BIRTH: Alyssa Grace Cox

    Ricky Wayne and Jennifer Kaitlin Cox of Pendleton announce the birth of their daughter, Alyssa Grace Cox.
    She was born Sept. 9, 20101, at Baptist Hospital Northeast. She weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces and measured 21 inches.
    Alyssa has two brothers, Jackson, 7, and Eric, 4.
    Maternal grandparents are Cheryl Gaber of Crestwood and Bruce Monroe of Pendleton.

  • BIRTH: Mara Bell Catherine Lucas

    Russ and Amy Lucas of Lexington announce the birth of their daughter, Mara Bell Catherine Lucas.
    She was born Sept. 17, 2010, at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.
    She weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches.
    She has two siblings, Asher, 4 and Aliza, 2.
