  • Engagement Announcement

    Steven and Ruth Thorn of St. Peters, Mo. announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Thorn to Shawn Eaton, son of John and Marilee Eaton of Marietta, Ga.

    The bride-elect resides in Crestwood and the groom-elect resides in Louisville. A wedding is planned Dec. 27 at Buckner Baptist Church.

  • Boy scouts participate in food drive

    Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 984, sponsored by the North Oldham Baptist Church, recently participated in the Scouting for Food drive.

  • Woman's club elects new officers

  • Children of the World choir to perform

    South OIdham High School graduate Taylor Hampton Phillips and her husband, Jay, are touring the country as team leaders for about 20 children from the developing world in the Children of the World children’s choir.

    The choir will perform at during regular services 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Jan. 4 at Crestwood Baptist Church.

  • Fulfilling the Old Testament

     There are many scriptures in the Old Testament that Christians claim Jesus fulfilled. I have seen numbers from 100 to 436 different scripture texts written hundreds, even thousands of years before Jesus’ birth, that tell of a messiah God will send in the future who will redeem the world. I have listed eight of the most popular and well known of those scripture texts, with the New Testament proof of their being fulfilled.

    Lady Dragons set to host holiday tournament

    The 2008 South Oldham Lady Dragons Holiday Hoopfest opens today, (Thursday), with seven teams coming in to battle with SOHS for the tourney title.

  • Fire damages home in La Grange

    Jim Drane’s home on Franklin Avenue in La Grange caught fire Tuesday afternoon while he and his daughter were out of the house. A neighbor called it in. When La Grange Fire and Rescue and Ballardsville Fire Department responded, flames were coming out of an attic vent on one side of the house. Major Keith Smith said firefighters had to tear out some ceilings to access the attic where the fire was, but the house didn’t sustain any other damage and no one was injured.

    Eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of New York’s The Sun in 1897, and the quick response was printed as an unsigned editorial Sept. 21 of that year.

    NOHS gym won’t be ready for OCHS game

    The North Oldham vs. Oldham County basketball games will not take place in North Oldham High School’s new gym Jan. 16, as construction won’t be finished in time, Oldham County Schools Architect Aric Andrew said.
