    Airport is a development issue

    To the editor:

    The people have spoken! The airport is dead! All that remains is fiscal court officially signing the death certificate. But I wonder if that decision is short-sighted. This whole process was not about an airport but was truly a future development issue.

    The Republican Party of Oldham County hosts an annual Lincoln Day Dinner as the organization’s only annual fundraising event. 

    This year is the 21st annual event and will commemorate the bicentennial celebration of Republican President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. 

  • Goshen will hire chipping service

    The City of Goshen has scheduled a spring chipping service to help residents deal with trees and limbs scattered by the January ice storm. 

  • Technology changes distribution of tax forms

    When it comes to filing 2008 tax returns, paper tax forms are no longer available in local libraries or post offices.  

    For years the Department of Revenue shipped forms, but this is a costly endeavor.  Officials say this year the state is saving about $230,000 by having the taxpayers print their own forms.

  • Oldham Humane Society will participate in Valentine’s weekend adoption event

    The Humane Society of Oldham County will be participating in the “Second Chance for Love” Adoption Weekend hosted by PetSmart. 

    The event includes cats, kittens and puppies for adoption at the Westport Road location of PetSmart Friday from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

  • Two arrested in fatal shooting

    Two men are charged with the shooting death of a La Grange man Sunday night. 

    La Grange Police responded to a 911 call at 9:24 p.m. Sunday where a shooting took place. Upon arrival at Creekside Apartments in La Grange, police found a white male, James E. Bailey, 33, dead at the scene.
