  • Oldham County middle school students named to all-district band

    The following seventh- and eighth-grade band members, pictured, from Oldham County Middle School auditioned into the 5th District All-District Band: David Bowles, John Hatton, John Torres, Eileen Ramirez, Ben Finch, Ryann Little, Erik Vokoun, Dallin Larsen, Josh Ely, Austin Smith, Anna Reeves, Ricky Elmore, Charlie Chandler, Adam Lang, Harrison Wight and Cassie Eldridge. Dr. Ann Porter, assistant professor of music education at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, will be the guest clinician.

  • POLICE: Nosy neighbors help thwart theft, burglaries

    Police say a group of watchful neighbors who witnessed men making their way through a La Grange subdivision in search of unlocked vehicles recently helped police make an arrest. 

    The La Grange Police Department recently charged Nick Yepko, III, 19, of La Grange, and Ryan Vogel, 19, of Louisville, with attempted theft by unlawful taking. 

  • Crestwood student receives music award

    Crestwood student Will Fergason is one of several Morehead State University students who recently received awards at the Kentucky Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition.

    Fergason is a member of MSU’s Orpheus Saxophone Quartet. The quartet received an honorable mention at the competition. 

  • Local students named to St. Catherine dean’s list

    Nathan Stumler, a graduate of South Oldham High School and DeAnna Durrett, a graduate of Oldham County High School are among the students named to the St. Catherine College dean’s list for the fall semester.

    To be named to the dean’s list at St. Catherine’s, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher.

  • La Grange Utilities will meet this week

    The January meeting of the La Grange Utilities Commission has been moved from Jan. 12 to 5 p.m. today (Thursday) at the commission’s offices, 203 S. Walnut St., La Grange.

  • Triad receives donation

    Melissa Lyons of Republic Bank in Crestwood presents a check to Shirley Hudson, a representative of Triad. Republic Bank donated $500 to Triad for assistance in funding programs to help protect senior citizens in Oldham County.

  • SOMS wrestlers successful at Bates

    The South Oldham Middle School Wrestling Team took 18 wrestlers to the Bates Middle School Wrestling Tournament Dec. 27 in Danville.

    The team celebrated 12 top place finishers.  

  • Brownsboro Community Center hosts meeting

    Members of the Brownsboro Community Center will host a semi-annual meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 12. 

    The center is located on Ky. 329 in Brownsboro.
