     La Grange mayor, county judge-executive, realtor and now bus driver. One of the most recognizable men in Oldham County, John Black, started driving a school bus earlier this month. 

  • Crestwood boasts first ‘Green’ home

    Builder David Landis boasts the Louisville area’s first home certified by the National Association of Home Builders Green Home Building Certification program. It is one of only about 120 homes nationwide certified to meet the strict guidelines for the building from the construction process onward. The home looks normal enough, but is rated to be $1,500 cheaper to heat and cool than comparable homes.

    Landis said building a home like this is not only the way of the future, but just the right thing to do.

  • Colonels win region

    LOUISVILLE – The Oldham County wrestling team proved themselves to be the strongest team in the region literally by taking the school’s first regional wrestling crown Saturday.

    Showcasing both their numbers and talent, the Colonels ran away with the team title with 209 points over Eastern with 180, six-time champion South Oldham with 168.5 and North Oldham with 165 points.

  • Billows takes heavyweight crown

    GOSHEN – North Oldham’s Greg Billows won the regional heavyweight wrestling title Saturday, but the key to the win may have come a week earlier in the Mustang Invitational.

    In the Mustang, Billows, a senior, defeated nemesis Andrew Avery of Oldham County for the first time in a long time. Billows shut Avery out 8-0 in the regional finals to take his first ever regional title.

     I have a love-hate relationship with being a server. 

    I’ve worked in restaurants off and on since I was 16, as a hostess, a food runner and when I was old enough, a server. I worked during breaks in college and it was my full-time job the summer after I graduated from college and looked for a job as a reporter.

    Dr. Russell Moore, a nationally recognized speaker on the topic of adoption will be making a presentation at 10:45 a.m. March 1 at La Grange Baptist Church.

    Dr. Moore will address the need for Christian couples to care for orphans through ministry and adoption.
