  • Oldham Hockey seizes opportunity

    Oldham County hockey had an opportunity and took advantage of it.

    A club team comprised of student-athletes from North Oldham, South Oldham, Oldham County and other schools in the surrounding area won the state championship and reached the quarterfinals of the national tournament in March.

  • Softball: Oldham blasts Henry

    Oldham County hasn’t yet found the right lineup, Lady Colonel coach Steve Leanhart said, but opponents might not agree. Oldham County used a seven-run third inning and eight-run fourth inning to cruise past Henry County 18-4 Tuesday April 10 in Buckner.

  • Baseball: North edges and Oldham

    Things went according to plan as North Oldham baseball walked away with its first District 29 victory of the season. The Mustangs defeated Oldham County 5-2 Monday April 9 in Buckner as three different pitchers, Tristan Kellogg, Chris Jackel and Nick Rose held the host Colonels to two hits and two runs.

  • Baseball: Jeffersonville downs South

    Jeffersonville (Ind.) baseball defeated South Oldham 12-1 Friday April 6 in Crestwood.

    Matthew Roy pitched five innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out three and walking four. Brandon Elsbury went 1 for 3 with a run and stolen base. Keaton Martin went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI.

    Some student-athletes were surprises, others were a little more expected. Here are some breakout performers from this winter season of sports.

  • Baseball: St. X downs South Oldham

    Errors and runners left on base doomed South Oldham baseball as St. Xavier (Louisville) defeated the Dragons 7-3.

    Brennan LaBarbera threw four innings, allowing three hits, six runs (one earned) while striking out one and walking six. Lincoln Price pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and one run. 

  • Baseball: South tops Holy Cross

    South Oldham baseball won the second game of a doubleheader against Holy Cross (Louisville) 7-3 Saturday March 31.

  • Baseball: South falls to Holy Cross

    Holy Cross (Louisville) defeated South Oldham baseball 6-5 in the first game of a double-header hosted at the school on Dixie Highway. The Cougars scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning when Craig Thompson scored on a wild pitch.

    Matthew Roy pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and five runs, while striking out five and walking one. 

  • North Oldham Invitational track meet results

     North Oldham Invitational track and field meet was hosted Thursday March 29 in Goshen.

    Girls

    Louisville Male won the event with 133 points in the 10-team meet. Oldham County placed second with 114 points. North Oldham was third with 106.5 points and South Oldham was sixth with 46.5 points.

  • Boys Lacrosse: Dragons rout Eastern

    South Oldham boys lacrosse finished its first half of the season with a 14-5 victory over Eastern Wednesday March 28 in Crestwood. Cole Cercone had a game-high five goals while Peyton Stallard finished with three goals and one assist. John Downing had two goals and one assist as seven different Dragons scored.
